THE NEED FOR THE ROTARY YOUTH TRUST FOR LUTON

Supported by the University of Luton and Luton Borough Council we believe that there is a gap in the assistance given to our young people. These will be tomorrow's leaders, sporting and academic achievers. The Rotary Youth Trust for Luton, founded by the 4 Rotary Clubs of Luton will identify these young people and help to support them.

THE AIMS OF THE ROTARY YOUTH TRUST FOR LUTON

TO -
- Identify young achievers
- Provide financial support
- Promote Rotary Youth activities
- He\p and advise
- Guide and assist.

At the Breakfast Launch on 5 February 2004 we appealed for outside support and we have been delighted with the response. Sponsorship, donations and gifts should help us reach our first target of £100,000 by 23rd February 2005. And we are grateful to the Trustees of the Steel Trust for their generous contribution.

But this is an on going Project and we hope that the TRUST FUND will continue to grow in years to come.

IT'S OUR LEGACY TO THE YOUNG ~

If you can help or have ideas to help the Trust grow please speak to the Trustee for your Club.

CENTENARY DAY
23 FEBRUARY 2005

Civic Reception
The Mayor of Luton has invited Rotary to a Civic Reception at the Town Hall to mark Rotary's centenary and our work in Luton
since 1927 when the Rotary Club of Luton was Chartered.

At this meeting we hope to make our first awards from the Rotary Youth Trust for Luton and we will soon be looking for suitable candidates. Further details will be given to Clubs shortly by their respective Trustee.

Evening Meeting - organised by the Rotary Club of Luton.
This will be similar to the usual 4 Clubs Meeting and the Mayor of Luton and other local dignitaries will be present. There will be a presentation to celebrate Rotary's Centenary and we shall be entertained by Gervase Phinn, the Author and Broadcaster, who began life as an Inspector of Schools. Many of us remember his hilarious tales when he spoke at the District Conference three year ago - we all laughed out loud and I am sure we shall do so again.

SOME OTHER MATTERS
- our Centenary Projects have been registered with Rotary International

-the Big Breakfast Launch has been entered for the District 1260 PR Competition

-Luton North are dealing with the Benefactor, who wishes to provide funding for some visible and lasting structure to recognise Rotary. He believes that we achieve a great deal and receive too little recongnition for our work
