Inner Wheel  District 26 - Overseas Service

A surprise ... International Service Award for Sandra Maizels
12 July 2003

On Saturday 12th July 2003, Les Lee gate crashed into the District 26 Inner Wheel meeting to make a surprise presentation of an International Service Award to Sandra Maizels, the Inner Wheel District Overseas Service Chairman.

from L to R: Alison Gardiner, Dist. Chairman, Sandra Maizels and Mary Landau, Immediate Past Dist. Chairman.

In making the presentation, Les stated that the members of Inner Wheel have given support to many projects but there is always someone that has the imagination to look for new projects and areas of need. Then, with this imagination initiates ideas into a project.

It does not finish there because they then work tirelessly by encouraging and motivating people in order not just to meet the aims but give more.

During the presentation, Les Lee stated that the award is usually signed by the RIBI President but in this case the award spans several years - so immediate Past Director of RI Keith Barnard Jones was asked to sign the award. When the RIBI committee and Keith heard about the work carried out by Sandra, the award was willingly approved.

Keith Barnard Jones sends his best wishes and appreciation for all that Sandra achieves in making a difference.

Les also stated that on a personal note it gave him enormous pleasure in making this presentation and hoped that International Service and Overseas Service can continue to work together.
