Programme for the
joint International/Foundation session on Saturday morning, 9 March
2002, at the Dist 1260 Conference in Bournemouth has been
finalised. It will include presentations on three projects - Newport
Pagnell/Kitwe
(Zambia) project, and Wolverton's Eshowe
(Zululand) project, and Ware area clubs project on Tools for
Self-reliance.

Update on Club Case Study - A World
Community Service project to donate playground equipment for the
disabled children in a school near Bombay was completed in January
2002. This
is an update on an earlier
story about how links were established between Rotary Clubs of
Great Missenden and Thane Hills, firstly through Gujarat relief aid
and then a project. Appropriately, the chief guest for the handing
over ceremony was an UNICEF representative. [12 Jan 2002]

Club case study -
Building on the links with Rotary Club of Thane Hills (near Bombay,
India) after the Gujarat earthquake, Rotary Club of Great Missenden has
done a World Community Service project. They have helped them with
playground equipment for disabled children. If you are travelling in the

have now made some "free" transport arrangements. The

involving three countries. Newport Pagnell along with a Rotary Club in
Holland ( Ede ) are planning to donate new
laboratory equipment for a school for the deaf in Zambia through a

An update on the schools
project in Zimbabwe. Letter from there..."The furniture
has now been installed in our new library and into some of the
classrooms. Both the staff and the children are so proud of their new
acquisitions and we have had many "visitors" to the school
recently, checking things out!"... And they have seen our
website as well. [14 Aug 2001]

An Update on the
three Club case study concerning Dr Minnie (see story below): She
successfully completed her training and impressed lots of visitors (
potential members!) at a meeting in Brookman's Park Club. For

Clubs
case study: Three clubs in Hatfield, Brookmans Park and St Albans Priory
quickly offered hosting and transport to the scholar Minnie
(Dr.Mrinalini Chathurvedi) for a special three-week training in the UK. She
is an ex-air force
doctor employed by the Rotary TTK Blood Bank
in Bangalore,
India. Through
direct Rotary action we will have helped
to slow down the spread of the HIV virus.
