Can you help
"Feed the Children"?
Appeal by Les Lee,
Chairman of the committee
10 Jan 2002
Today I visited the organisation "Feed the Children" in
Twyford to find out more about their operation.
Some of you may have recently seen a BBC News item that showed Rotary
Shelter and Aqua boxes being delivered to a refugee camp in Afghanistan.
This was excellent publicity for the boxes and of course Rotary and the
efforts clubs have made in supporting these Rotary Projects. However you can
still help!
During my visit they mentioned that they will shortly be providing more
specific aid to the Maslakh Camp 20kms outside Herat. The Camp is home to
350,000 people and growing at about 100 new arrivals each day. UN World Feeding Programme has established a
daily feeding programme for the most vulnerable, but there is still a desperate
need in the sub zero temperatures for Shelter items, clothing hygiene items,
baby care packs and blankets.
Feed the Children can procure these items at reduced costs but do need
funds to do so.
If your clubs have any funds for those in desperate need and want to
ensure that the most is made from your
contribution please send it to:
