Three Clubs are involved -  Hatfield, Brookmans Park and St Albans Priory

This is an update, and for the earlier story, click here. Dr Minnie successfully completed her training and impressed lots of visitors ( potential members!) at a meeting in Brookman's Park Club ... and there are plans for the future

(Above) From Left to Right in this picture are Minnie (Dr Mrinalini Chaturvedi) with her hosts Dave and Wendy Ford, Gene Spencley our Vice President and Martyn Baker, President.

From: Wendy Ford   To: Dr Prithvi Raval     27 June 01

We took Dr Minnie to the airport on Saturday morning and have just heard that she arrived safely in Washington and is off to see Niagara Falls. We hosted Minnie for her final week in the UK and she was kind enough to join us at our meeting on Tuesday 19th where she talked about the Rotary TTK Blood Bank and the reasons for her being here. I'm pleased to say that Dr Saldahna certified Minnie at the end of her course to conduct the new tests and gave her a glowing report.

I enclose two pictures which I thought might be of interest ..... We had several visitors with us that evening, potential members, and her talk gave a very good feeling of Rotary's International endeavours.

We found Minnie to be a lovely charming lady, she has been a great ambassador for her country, Bangalore and the Blood Bank. She has been trying very hard to persuade us to come and visit and we certainly feel we have made a friend for life.

During her talk Minnie highlighted the problems you have in India with Aids, a fact none of us were aware of. The new procedures she has learnt will hopefully make a difference. She did say that you are still looking for funds for the equipment that will be needed and we would like to explore the possibility of a Matching Grant. Could you please let us have details of the Bangalore Club, which I understand we will need to look into this.

I hope you found the above to be interesting and no doubt you will be speaking to Minnie about her experiences in the UK upon her return.

Regards

From : Dr Prithvi Raval  To: Wendy Ford   27 June 01

Thank you so much, for all the help you have given us. Yes, Dr.Mrinalini is a charming and a dedicated doctor at our blood bank. We hope to increase our facilities and help the community better with the 'state of the art' techniques. The photographs are really good.

Once the doctor is in Bangalore, we need to study the equipment and materials involved in setting up a PCR lab. I am told, that there are only 3 or 4 in India. I would like to visit at least two of them to see how they are function and how we can do better than all of them. We will know the costing only then.

Rotary Club Bangalore, which is my home club has 210 members and was established in 1934. We are one of the premier clubs in India and also the 5th one to be started in India. On behalf of our president and other members I welcome any of your club members who may be passing through this part of the globe. We meet on Monday evening at 7.00 pm. This is NOT a dinner meet. I shall mail you in due course some literature of our club be regular mail.

Please convey our greetings to all your members at RC Brookmans Park and the hosts. Governor Derek Adams has been instrumental in organizing everything. Thanks again

Yours in Rotary Service
