Sponsored Ride - Raising
Awareness and Money for
RIDERS FOR HEALTH
[Feb 2003
]

A group of motorcyclists from Hitchin Rotary Club are raising money for Riders For Health, a charity which provides and maintains motorcycles, trucks and ambulances for the delivery of healthcare to Outlying Communities in Africa.

In particular we are raising £4,600 for the provision of a “Uhuru” motorcycle sidecar outfit for use in The Gambia.

We are planning to visit a number of Rotary Clubs in the UK, that have similar names to other Rotary Clubs abroad. In this way we are doing a “Global Tour” within the UK. We are planning to visit up to 25 clubs right across England and Wales, by next September, starting in Wales with Pembroke (Bermuda) and Cardiff (Australia) immediately before Conference.

We are raising money in three ways:

1) By individual sponsorship based on the number of Clubs visited.

2) By receiving a donation from each of the Clubs that we visit and speak to, and also by appealing to the clubs abroad that have the same name.

3) By inviting sponsorship from Local Businesses in the form of a donation of around £100, for the web site that we have created to explain what we are doing. In return their Logo will be added to our site as a link to their own site, together with an invitation for our visitors to look at our sponsors sites.

In addition, we shall be at Conference with a small display in the Hall of Friendship, asking you to “Guess the Mileage” that we would cover by our UK Tour, if we completed it as one trip.

Please visit our site at www.hitchinrotaryrideout.org.uk and e-mail us if you would like to take a sponsorship form, or have us visit your club, or if you feel your company would like to sponsor our web site.
