International:

1. Matching Grant project has been approved by RI for a Shea Nut Crusher in Tamale, Ghana. It will help local women in making shea nut butter. [Details in the Dist. International website for the benefit of other clubs who may be thinking of a matching grant project].

2. World community service project with Thane Hill Rotary Club (near Bombay, India) to provide play-ground equipment for disadvantaged/disabled children in a school. The local Rotary Club has adopted the school, and an UNICEF representative inaugurated the garden/playground equipment. The link with Thane Hill itself was established in the previous year as Great Missenden contributed to the Gujarat relief efforts through that club. [Details in the website]

3. Shoe box Scheme: Great Missenden have organised mobilisation and delivery of over 1500 shoe boxes this year. The target has exceeded several hundred during each of the last few years. Involving a great deal of the local community in doing this through Light House project, itself an inspiration from a club member.

4. Other Box-schemes: Supported one shelter-box, two emergency boxes and six aquaboxes.

 5. Financial support to Riders for Health.

 6. Support two children in India - to get them out of "child labour" via Joe Homan's Trust. The club has supported two children every year for a number of years.

 7. Small financial support to a local person, Laura Smith, for her teaching expedition to Nepal

 8. Support Lake Victoria School in Southern Africa, for Aids orphans.

 9. Great Missenden have remained as one of the top contributors in the District for Foundation for a number of years, which again supports many International projects.

 10. The club has been mixing fun with international spirit - in fund raising such as the duck race as well as during a weekend trip to Amsterdam.
