Three nights in a  Shelter Box - Story of how Les Lee and Bernard Pritchard spent their time at the RIBI Conference in Bournemouth, 20-22 Apr 2001. They impoved awareness, raised money, saved on hotel bills and were greeted by the two great presidents - Frank Devlyn (RI) and Norman Proctor  (RIBI). (25 April 2001)

The Conference went well and the efforts of camping are just begining to be felt.

The project was successful in terms of raising awareness of Shelter Box and
our sleeping in it just added that bit extra even though most thought Bernard and I mad. We raised a just over £220 but still have not checked totally what we have had from our District.Sponsorships.

RI President Frank Devlyn and RIBI President Norman Proctor visited us just
after we errected the tent on Thursday and joined us in a glass of red wine whilst the idea of the tent was explained together with the work being carried out by RIBI on Rapid Disaster Response.

President Frank was very impressed by the development of all boxes for Rapid Disaster Relief and stated that this was a lead more countries could  follow.

The project did have another aspect in that whilst money was being raised
for Shelter box, Polio PLus would also be a major benificiary.

For EVERY £10 raised, £5 would go to Shelter box. The other £5 will be doubled to £10 via a Matching grant from the Foundation and go to Polio Plus.

Asked what was the best moment, both Bernard and Les stated "Not having to
pay the HOTEL BILL on Sunday".

Thanks to everyone that supported us.

Les Lee
